Statement From Governor Adamson On State Of Emergencies

January 31, 2024

ALDEN, MESA - Ladies and gentleman, and citizens of the Great State Of Mesa. Today I announced that there are currently State Of Emergencies in Alden, Ashburn and Diester county. These emergency declarations are in preparation for heavy flooding that will be headed to Mesa, through heavy rainfall.

While this is nothing new to native Mesians, we must always be prepared to address the dangers of flooding that can flash, becoming even deadlier than regular flooding.

As we prepare for the start of Mesa's Flood season, we are reminded how fragile 52% of Mesa's population and want to prepare them for what lies ahead of the State. Flood season is not a time, where safety can just simply be put on the back burner.

It is important that our vulnerable population are well-prepared for these flooding conditions, which I, as Governor, am doing now. I am creating a comprehensive plan of action for many departments of our state including the Mesa Highway Patrol, the MHP Water Division, the Department Of Elder Services are working constructively on preparing the elderly, as well as provide services to them for rehousing.

To start, The Mesa Highway Patrol will begin patrols days before the rainstorms are scheduled to begin, and start checking homes for anyone who has yet to evacuate. They are being instructed to remind those to leave their homes in preparation for the flooding. The MHP Water Division will patrol flooded neighborhoods looking for looters, robbers, thieves and other illegal activity.

Secondly, President McCallum has offered to send emergency teams to Washington, Mesa to provide temporary housing, food and supplies, beds, blankets and other essential items, which I am extremely grateful for.

Third, medical facilities are preparing to house non-patient Mesians, and are establishing designated healthcare systems within their facilities to provide for those who may become sick while staying in these designated hospital facilities.

Fourth and finally, residents are being directed to begin leaving their homes by February 5, 2024, to avoid the start of the storms. Once rainfall begins, it is expected that it will take less than 24 hours for flooding to show its face. The State and I am asking residents to be vigilent, and check in on one another.

The State Of Emergencies are currently active in Alden County, Ashburn County, and Diester County. Citizens of the entire state are being warned to check the State's official website, the Governor's website and the Federal Government websites as well.

The State Of Emergencies are still in affect and will be in affect until further notice or until another order reverses the previous State Of Emergency orders.

Signed,

Joshua Adamson

Governor Of Mesa
