Governor Adamson Announces Arrests For Residents Who Violate Evacuation Orders

Statement From Governor Joshua Adamson

February 1, 2024

Office Of The Governor

Today I announce, that as we get closer to the start of flood season here in Mesa, we are working to be as prepared as possible for the flooding that is set to accompany the heavy rainfall. But as we have established several evacuation orders in the counties of Alden, Ashburn and Diester, we have seen heavy droves of residents not evacuate their homes, something that my office has ordered, and has been a legal order of the State.

Furthermore, as a response to the failure to evacuate, I, Governor Joshua Adamson, issued that law enforcement agencies are now being authorized to arrest any Mesian resident who fails to follow these evacuation orders a larger then expected flooding is expected. This comes to serve as a reminder to residents that I as Governor, take safety of this state's citizens very, very seriously. We are not overstepping our authority, we are making sure residence stay safe and protect emergency responders who are required to continue to work through the flooding and rainy conditions.

Residence should be reminded that law enforcement will only give (1) warning before arrests will begin, being made. Please follow posted orders, instructions and directives from state, county and local officials.

Signed,

Joshua Adamson

Governor Of Mesa
