Governor Adamson Addresses The Paul Shooting

Statement From The Office Of Governor Joshua Adamson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | June 26, 2024

ALDEN - As many of you are aware, or at least have heard about recent news, my predecessor, former Mesa Governor Kirk Paul was shot early in the morning on June 25, 2024, and is currently fighting for his life at Nox City Medical Center. But I just wanted to take time to address the state as many of you are probably waiting for a statement from my office and I.

First and foremost, It will be the mission of my office to uncover the reason the shooting took place, what mental illnesses(if any), the shooter had during the time of the shooting and any relevant details to the case. My second order of business, is to support the Paul family in any way I can, and by ensuring Alexis and her children are protected. I have ordered a protection detail be assigned the family(with their permission), to ensure they are not put in harms way.

I spoke with the family early this afternoon and they provided to me with many updates regarding his health. Furthermore, it is my duty as Governor to lower flags to Half Staff, out of respect for former Governor Kirk Paul who served this state. I will continue to provide updates whenever and wherever and whenever possible. However, updates will only be given to residents of the state with approval of the Paul family. Please give them space and allow them to focus on their loved one during this time.

If you have any details relating to the shooting or to aid the investigation, please contact the Mesa Highway Patrol's Main Office at 1-999-647-6372 or email them at investigationtip@mhp.stateofmesa.org. Please note that all communications between the MHP and yourself are considered public record under Mesa law, thus some information about you may be available to the public. Please keep that in mind when providing anonymous or regular tips to the Mesa Highway Patrol.

Signed,

Joshua Adamson

Governor Of Mesa
